Transportation collection, [ca. 1850-2003].

Collection of papers related to transportation in all forms, focusing primarily on Oregon and the northwestern United States. Includes advertisements, publicity materials, tickets, schedules, timetables, stock certificates, log books, financial materials, and company histories. Materials relate to ships and shipping, bridges, canals, ferries, aeronautics, automobile transport, bicycles, stages, busses, roads, highways, wagons, canals, and railroads, and other modes of transport. The collection was created by the Oregon Historical Society with materials drawn from a variety of sources. Includes: report by Lohman & Co., Engineers, titled "A preliminary report on the physical and financial features of the proposed Eugene & Pacific Electric Railway," 1909 (1 v., typescript), including photographs along the proposed route; Oregon Railway & Navigation Company, records, 1896 (1 sheet, 2 photocopies), a building record from the chief engineer's office which lists type of building, lotion, and other information for 1896 Aug.; and Columbia River Shipbuilding Corporation, souvenir booklet (1 v.), ca. 1920, containing a synopsis of the corporation's history and production, and photographs of plant, personnel, ships, and ships' sponsors.
